He Felt that Something Inside Him was a Bird Fluttering

The title of the painting is inspired by the poem The Language of the Birds by Richard Siken. Painted in acrylic on a 6" x 6" gallery-style canvas, this colorful hummingbird sits posed in profile with lines that are alive with nervous energy both inherited from & giving life to the subject. The dark lines form a top layer with the bold color space seemingly sinking deep into the canvas behind it.
